Remote Location Access: How to Manage Location-Based Features and Disable Remote Location Access

Learn what Remote Location Access does, how it affects your MyHyundai with Bluelink features, and how to disable Remote Location Access if needed.

Remote Location Access allows you to access location-based Remote features for your Hyundai vehicle using the MyHyundai app and website. When Remote Location Access is enabled, you can conveniently access features such as Find My Car, Final Destination Guidance, Surround View Monitor, Valet Mode, Safeguard Alerts, and more.

You can disable Remote Location Access in your vehicle settings*. Your vehicle will still work normally, but location-based remote features will be unavailable while this setting is disabled so no one other than Hyundai can access your vehicle's location via the mobile app or MyHyundai website.

The following chart shows what location-based features will and will not be available after Remote Location Access has been disabled within the vehicle:

Option 2: Use the Bluelink button near your rear-view mirror. Press the Bluelink button, then follow the voice prompts to disable or enable Remote Location Access.

Option 3: Submit an online request. If you are a resident of California, New York, or Louisiana, you can submit an online request through our website to disable Remote Location Access. Please see HERE for step-by-step instructions about any additional information and documentation you may need to provide.

Please find the FAQs below for more details about Remote Location Access and what to expect when it is active or disabled.

How Remote Location Access works

What happens when Remote Location Access is active?

When Remote Location Access is active, location-based features are available in your app and vehicle, including  Find My Car, Final Destination Guidance, Surround View Monitor, Valet Mode, Safeguard Alerts, and more.

What happens when Remote Location Access is disabled?

When Remote Location Access is disabled, certain location-based features in your app and vehicle, such as Find My Car and Valet Mode, will not be available. Your vehicle will still work normally, and you can continue to use the in-vehicle navigation system on the Head Unit.

Can I still use Valet Mode if Remote Location Access is disabled?

No. If Remote Location Access is disabled, Valet Mode will not be available.

What happens if I change other settings while Remote Location Access is disabled?

If Remote Location Access is disabled, changing other settings, such as navigation or head unit settings, will not reactivate location-based features. These features will remain unavailable until Remote Location Access is reactivated or if the head unit is reset to factory defaults.

Manage Remote Location Access

How do I activate or disable Remote Location Access in my vehicle's head unit?

In the Head Unit of your Hyundai vehicle, you can find the Remote Location Access setting by going to Setup > Data/Network > Bluelink > Privacy Settings.

What happens if I remove the vehicle owner?

If you remove the vehicle owner, location-based features will be disabled, Valet Mode will no longer be available on the vehicle screen, and the removed owner will be notified that they no longer have access.

You will need to immediately submit the required documents to the Customer Care Center. Please  see HERE to submit the documents.

What happens if I suspend services or cancel the subscription?

If you suspend services, Remote Location Access features will not be available, and Valet Mode will be unavailable. If you cancel the subscription, these features will remain disabled until you deactivate Remote Location Access.

Privacy and Safety

After I disable Remote Location Access, will someone else be able to see my vehicle's location?

No. Once Remote Location Access is disabled, users of the mobile app or MyHyundai website will no longer be able to see your vehicle's location. However, Hyundai may still access location information needed for safety, security, legal or analysis purposes. For rental or fleet vehicles, location information may also still be shared with the rental company or fleet owner, where applicable.

Can I still use my vehicle if I disable Remote Location Access?

Yes. Your vehicle will still work normally, but certain Remote Location Access features such as  Find My Car, Final Destination Guidance, Surround View Monitor, Valet Mode, and Safeguard Alerts will no longer be available.

Can I reactivate Remote Location Access later?

Yes. You can reactivate Remote Location Access at any time.

Is a notification provided when Remote Location Access is disabled?

No notification is provided when Remote Location Access is disabled or enabled.

What if I don’t see the Vehicle Location Access toggle in my vehicle settings?

Not all Hyundai vehicles include the Vehicle Location Access toggle in the head unit. Availability will vary by model, trim, and software configuration.

If you do not see the toggle under Setup > Data/Network > Bluelink > Privacy Settings, your vehicle may not support this setting through the head unit. You can still manage Remote Location Access using the Bluelink button near your rear-view mirror. Press the Bluelink button and follow the voice prompts to disable or enable Remote Location Access. This option is available for all Bluelink-equipped vehicles.
