There are currently over 45 hydrogen refueling stations in California, and many more are under construction to meet consumer demand and accelerate the shift towards this clean fuel source.
Both the NEXO center display and your MyHyundai smartphone application will show you how many miles you can travel before refueling is needed as well as the distance to the nearest hydrogen fueling station. If you look for a hydrogen fuel station after you have entered a destination in the navigation system, each hydrogen fuel station listing will be accompanied by a figure indicating the distance from the station to your destination.
Select an individual hydrogen refueling station in either the NEXO on-board system or your phone app and you will be provided with the station’s name, address, phone number, and will be informed if the station is currently open. You will also see the pressure rating of the available hydrogen dispensers, shown as 35 (MPa) or 70 (MPa). 35 (MPa) and 70 (MPa) are the maximum fill pressures of the dispensers. NEXO is designed to use a 70 (MPa) dispenser to fill the fuel tanks to full capacity. Using a 35 (MPa) dispenser on NEXO will only fill the fuel tanks to half capacity. Consequently, if the NEXO is half full when you try to refuel using a 35 (MPa) dispenser, no additional fuel will actually be dispensed. Fortunately, all retail hydrogen fuel stations provide 70 MPa pumps, but it is something you will want to check.
Additionally, you may check the status of these Hydrogen Stations on the California Fuel Cell Partnership website: https://m.cafcp.org/1. Utilizing these tools can help you save time and energy by showing you which stations have fuel and are working correctly, avoiding unnecessary trips or surprises at the pump.
Frequently Asked Questions What should I do if the Hydrogen Station is not working?
Most hydrogen refueling stations have a customer support phone number printed on the station kiosk. Please call that number, and describe the problem to the hydrogen refueling station operator’s customer service team so that they may assist you.
If there is a mass station outage in your area and no local station has fuel due to a network-wide supply issue, please contact your local authorized Hyundai NEXO Dealer. Depending on the scale and duration of the outage, your local Hyundai NEXO dealer may be able to arrange alternate transportation, such as a complimentary rental car for the outage period. Please note that only Hyundai NEXO dealers will be able to provide this service.
