Q: What is Plug & Charge?
A: Plug & Charge is a system that enables the EV to tell the charging station to initiate charging without any need for action by the driver. Simply plug in the EV charger into your EV and all relevant communications, including payment information, will be done automatically to enable a charge.
Q: Where can I use Plug & Charge?
A: Plug & charge for Hyundai is available in the United States on all accessible IONNA, Tesla, and some ChargePoint DC fast charging stations. More networks will be available to Hyundai drivers in the coming months.
Q: Why doesn’t my vehicle work with Plug & Charge?
A: Plug & Charge currently works with 2025 IONIQ 5 and 2026. IONIQ 9. 2024 and earlier IONIQ 5, 2025 and earlier IONIQ 6, 2025 IONIQ 5 N, 2024, 2025 Kona EV and 2023 and earlier Kona EV will need to visit their local Hyundai dealership to have Plug & Charge functionality enabled.
Q: When will my vehicle be able to use Plug & Charge In-app-charging?
A: Drivers of all other Hyundai EVs will be able to use Plug & Charge after their Hyundai receives an Update from their Hyundai dealership. More details on this process will be shared closer to when this functionality is available.
Q: Is there any savings from using Plug & Charge?
A: Not at this time; however, Hyundai is constantly looking for ways to save its valued customers money on charging.
Q: How do I set-up Plug & Charge?
A: Option 1: New Hyundai EV Owners
- Please create a Bluelink account and register your vehicle for connected services
- Enroll into In-app Charging by selecting Public Charging service and then add a card on file using Hyundai Pay Select the “Charge” icon from the MyHyundai with Bluelink app home screen.
- Beneath the find a charging station button you will see a link for “Plug & Charge.”
- You will be prompted to enroll in In-App Charging if you have not done so already.
- If you have enrolled then you will be shown an overview of Plug & Charge and prompted to “Activate.”
- The vehicle will automatically try to pull the plug and charge ID or “PCID” from your vehicle. If this pull is unsuccessful you will need to enter the PCID by scanning a QR code or entering the PCID code manually.
- PCID can be found in the vehicle infotainment under the charging menu / plug and charge section.
- Once the PCID is entered, plug and charge will be shown as “Active.”
A: Option 2: Existing Hyundai EV Owners
- Ensure you have enrolled in Hyundai Pay and activated In-App Charging
- Beneath the find a charging station button you will see a link for “Plug & Charge.”
- You will be prompted to enroll in In-app-charging if you have not done so already.
- If you have enrolled then you will be shown an overview of Plug & Charge and prompted to “Activate.”
- The vehicle will automatically try to pull the plug and charge ID or “PCID” from your vehicle. If this pull is unsuccessful you will need to enter the PCID by scanning a QR code or entering the PCID code manually.
- PCID can be found in the vehicle infotainment under the charging menu / plug and charge section.

Q: Why do I need a Hyundai Pay Account?
A: The Hyundai Pay account securely stores your credit card to be billed when you charge your vehicle.
Q: How do I unenroll from Plug & Charge?
A: Please see below:
- Select the “Charge” icon from the MyHyundai with Bluelink app home screen.
- Beneath the find a charging station button you will see a link for “Plug & Charge.”
- Click “Deactivate” to turn-off Plug & Charge functionality.
Q: How do I ensure I can use Plug & Charge?
A: For 2025 IONIQ 5 owners, please install the Plug & Charge function on your electric vehicle via over-the-air update. You will be asked to approve the Plug & Charge function update on your vehicle’s head unit when you turn off your vehicle. After installing the Plug & Charge function on your electric vehicle via over-the-air update, please set up Plug & Charge on the MyHyundai with Bluelink App.
Q: Why do I need to re-enroll in Plug & Charge?
A: You can activate and deactivate Plug & Charge whenever you want. You can activate it when you want to use it, and if you are lending your car to someone else, you can deactivate it so that Plug & Charge does not work.
Q: How often do I need to re-enroll in Plug & Charge
A: Normally, it takes up to 10 seconds to activate and deactivate. You can activate and deactivate as many times as you want.
Q: How do I find a charging station?
A: Please follow these steps:
- Select “Charge” icon from your app home screen.
- A map will appear showing EV charging stations around you.
- Filter based on charging network, speed, connector type, or distance from your location. You can also save stations as favorites for faster navigation.
- Click-on “send-to-car” to push the station location to your cars navigation and drive to the charging station.
Q: How do I stop a charging session using Plug & Charge?
A: There are two ways. Please see below:
How to stop the Plug & Charge function from your EV:
- On the vehicle’s head unit, go to “EV → Setting → Plug & Charge”
- You will see the “Plug & Charge” On/Off toggle switch.
- If you turn the “Plug & Charge” toggle switch to OFF, Plug & Charge will not start on your EV.
How to stop the Plug & Charge function in MyHyundai App:
- Select the “Charge” icon from the MyHyundai App home screen
- Beneath the ‘Find a Charging Station’ button, you will see a link for “Plug & Charge”
- Click “Deactivate” to turn off Plug & Charge functionality. If you try to start charging with Plug & Charge after deactivation, it will be disconnected within 1 minute and you will not be charged.
