General

Which vehicles are eligible for map updates?

All built-in navigation equipped Hyundai models purchased in the United States.                                                                                     

 

How do I know if my car has a built-in navigation?

Not to be confused with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, the built-in navigation system does not require the use of any mobile phone device. Two ways to confirm your car has navigation - 1) look for a “MAP” hard key or 2) go to the system info page on your display screen (usually under hard key “SETUP”, then “System” or “Sys Info” on the touchscreen). If your car has navigation, there will be a “map version” number displayed.                                                                                     

How do I check the current map version in my vehicle?

In your infotainment system, go to your system info page located in the settings to find the map version.                                                                                                                                                                                             

How do I know if my map version is older than the current map version?

If the map version starts with a lower number than the current one offered, then you can update. For example, if your map version is 10.47.xxx and the current version available is 13.47.xxx, you can update.

What’s the difference between downloading the map or ordering it by mail?

Both products provide the same software. Downloading is free (though limited to certain models), while the shipping option is $25 USD plus shipping. The benefit of the shipping option is that it skips the download process, which requires access to a PC and high-speed internet as the file sizes can be large.                                                                                                                        

Do I have to update my map every year?

Map updates are not required to use the navigation system, but they are encouraged in order to get access to the latest roads and points of interest, which can change up to 15% every year.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

How long does it take to update?

Vehicle update times vary by model but generally newer models take less time. They can be as short as 20 minutes and up to 3 hours.                                                                                                                          

Do I need to keep the car running while updating?

Yes the engine should be running during the update in order to keep the vehicle battery from dying.

How do I get a free map update?

For all eligible vehicles, visit the Global MapCare site below to download your free map. Note: Not all models can be downloaded.

How much does the map update cost to ship?

All map updates now cost $25 USD for the media plus shipping charges.                                                                                                                          

What type of payment options are available if I choose to order by mail?

A PayPal account, or major debit/credit card (MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Visa).                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Do I need a PayPal account to pay?

No account is required. PayPal provides a debit or credit card option.                                                                                                                

Is your return policy?

There is a 30-day return policy on all unopened packages, minus shipping costs. Please visit the FAQ page on www.mapnsoft.com/hyundai to inquire about returns.                                                                                                           

I ordered the wrong update. Can I return the media for a refund?

Yes, if the update was not installed. Shipping costs may still apply for returns. Please contact the MnSOFT call center to confirm your order. Some media can update multiple models and model years, so a return might not be necessary.                                                                                                                                   

There is missing map data in the update I bought. Can I get a refund?

Refunds are not available for missing data. The map update comes as-is. As there are millions of roads and points of interest, it is impossible to provide complete accuracy. If you would like to confirm a specific address or point of interest, please contact the MnSOFT call center before purchasing.                                                                                      

 

Map Updates

How do I know if my map is out-of-date?

If the map version starts with a lower number than the current one offered, then you can update. For example, if your map version is 10.47.xxx and the current version available is 12.47.xxx, you can update.                                                                                                                            

When are map updates released?

There are two map releases per year - Spring (around March) and Fall (around October). For older models (typically 2013 and older), there is one map release per year in the Spring.                                                                                                                                                            

How old is the map data on the new map updates?

Typically, the map data on the latest map version is about 1 year old due to the time it takes to compile and test the software.                                                                                                                                                                                       

I’m moving to another country outside of US/Canada. Can I get the map for another country?

No. Unfortunately, the map software for vehicles purchased in the US or Canada are only compatible for the North America region.                                                                                                   

Can I uninstall an update and revert to the previous version?

No, once an update has been performed, the software cannot be downgraded to the older version.                                                                                     

 

Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto (AC/AA)

My car does not have AC/AA. Can I get it by ordering a map update?

Certain 2014 to 2017 models will add AC/AA after a map update. Please check the “New Features” guide on www.mapnsoft.com  listed under your model. If AC/AA is not mentioned, then an update will not add it.                                                                                                                                                                                     

My car does not have built-in navigation, but I want to update to get AC/AA. Can I order the map update?

No, unfortunately we only provide updates to vehicles with built-in navigation. The media will not work on non-navigation equipped models.                                                                                                 

I am having issues with AC/AA. Will a map update fix it?

Although a map update can provide the latest software, there could be many other unaddressed issues related to why an owner may be experiencing issues. Map updates provide the latest roads, points of interest and (depending on model) updated software. AC/AA issues should be addressed to Hyundai or Genesis customer care.

Troubleshooting (installation issues)

Before Updating

I am having software issues with my navigation system. Will a map update fix it?

No, a map update provides the latest map, points of interest, and (depending on model) software update. If your vehicle has some underlying issues, a map update will not necessarily address them as it could pertain to other vehicle issues. Please contact your local dealership for a proper diagnosis.                                                                                                                

Where do I insert the media in the car?

For SD cards, the SD card slot in the vehicle is generally located just below or above the display screen and labeled “SD Map”. The slot can also be located above and behind the display screen, near the dashboard. You can also contact your dealer for assistance.                                                                              

 

While Updating

I got a “not compatible” error when I inserted the SD card.

That error message can appear when the SD card is first inserted because the vehicle software has not been updated yet. Ignore the message and go to the system info page and press “Update”. Refer to the vehicle installation manual for instructions.                                                                                                                         

I got an error message. What should I do?

If possible, take a picture of the error message or write it down. Go to www.mapnsoft.com and visit the FAQ page. Use the Contact Us option to report your issue.                                                                                                                                   

My update is taking too long and seems to be stuck. What should I do?

Update times can vary by model. If you believe there is an issue, go to www.mapnsoft.com and visit the FAQ page. Use the Contact Us option to report your issue.                                                                                     

 

After Updating

I am having software issues since the update. What should I do?

After updating, my SiriusXM traffic data is not working.

Missing Map Data

I am looking for an address/point of interest. How do I know if the latest map update has it?

How long does it take for missing map data to be added to my navigation?

Generally, it takes about one year for missing data to be added to the map. If you are using the online connected search, it can be added much faster - sometimes within a few weeks.                                                                                                                                                

Routing

A recent route I was provided is not the most optimal route. How do I report it?

Check your route settings. If you continue to have issues, go to the FAQ page on www.mapnsoft.com, and under Contact Us, choose the Routing category and describe your issue.                                                                                                                                                                                        

My ETA is inaccurate.

Make sure you are using traffic data (HD radio or SiriusXM which requires subscription) for the most accurate ETA. Check your route settings as well. If you continue to have issues, go to the FAQ page, and under Contact Us, choose Routing category and describe your issue.                                                                                                                                      

What is Server-Based Routing?

Server-Based Routing or Connected Routing is a more precise, more accurate method to providing the best routing available when a driver inputs an address. When routing to an address is requested by the driver, the route is calculated in the cloud through the vehicle’s LTE connection, rather than calculating the route on-board the vehicle.                                                                                                                                                  

How do I get access to Server-Based Routing?

You need an active Blue Link (Hyundai), or UVO (Kia) subscription.                                                                                                                             

After updating, my SiriusXM traffic data is not working.

Shipping

How do I find my tracking information?

Log into your account on www.mapnsoft.com and view your order for the tracking number.                                                                                                                        

Does two-day FedEx shipping guarantee my package will arrive two days from the day I ordered it?

Two-day FedEx shipping refers to the time it takes for a package to be delivered once it is dropped off at the Fedex facility. When an order is placed, 1 to 2 business days (Sat/Sun and Holidays excluded) are required to process the order. For example, an order placed on a Friday would be processed on Monday or Tuesday and delivered on Wednesday or Thursday. Please note, during the Holiday Season, due to limited staff and FedEx/USPS limitations, packages may be delayed.
